Annual Renewal
Mark your calendar! HSCPOA’s first Annual Registration Renewal is due March 31, 2026, for all PSWs who became registered on or before January 31, 2026. These PSW registrants must renew their registration no later than March 31, 2026, or their HSCPOA registration will expire on April 1, 2026.
Anyone who became a HSCPOA registered PSW on or after February 1, 2026, will complete their first annual renewal in 2027.
Once you complete your first annual renewal, all PSW registrants must renew their registration annually once the renewal portal opens each year. HSCPOA will send several email reminders to ensure PSW registrants know when annual renewal opens and closes so they do not miss the March 31st deadline date each year.
Renewal is quick and easy. HSCPOA PSW registrants log into their registrant profile and submit an online renewal form.
All Certificates of Registration will expire on April 1st unless a PSW registrant renews their registration with HSCPOA by the March 31st deadline date each year.
Step 1: Beginning February 1, 2026, registrants can log into their HSCPOA PSW registrant profile and select ‘Renew’.
Step 2: Profile Update – PSW Registrants review information in their registrant profile and update any changes such as contact information and employment details.
Step 3: Complete the renewal form which asks questions about a HSCPOA registered PSW’s personal care provider education, if applicable, and their personal care provider work history, within and outside Ontario, if applicable.
Some renewal form questions are required for HSCPOA’s annual reporting requirements to the Ontario Ministry of Health. Information reported by HSCPOA to the Ministry of Health will be sent in anonymous format. Some questions will only be asked at the first annual renewal, other questions may be asked each year.
There is currently no fee for HSCPOA PSW registrants to renew their registration. HSCPOA may charge fees for annual renewal in the future, subject to Ontario Ministry of Health decision making.
If a PSW registrant doesn’t renew by March 31st each year, their certificate of registration with HSCPOA automatically expires and they will be suspended. A status of “Inactive” will be displayed on HSCPOA’s Public Register of PSWs, and the registration history on the Public Register will also show the registration has expired. PSWs must then apply for reinstatement with HSCPOA.
