Other Health and Supportive Care Providers
- The Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) was created to provide a new form of legislated health and supportive care provider oversight in Ontario beginning with personal support workers (PSWs) and will eventually expand to other currently unregulated health care provider groups.
- A decision about which unregulated health and supportive care provider groups should be regulated in the future will require significant policy work and stakeholder consultation. This includes developing specific criteria for regulation against which the Board would base its assessment of the need and readiness for regulation and make a recommendation to the Ministry of Health to approve legislation for the HSCPOA’s oversight of a new class of registrants.
