Health and Supportive Care Providers of Ontario
The Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) has a mandate to register and provide oversight of personal support workers (PSWs) and other potential classes of registrants that may be prescribed by government in future regulations to be made under the new Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority Act, 2021. This new legislation implements a new regulatory approach for the oversight of individuals providing health and supportive care services, beginning with PSWs in Ontario.

- What to Expect from HSCPOA
Following consultation with relevant stakeholders across the province, including government, patient/family/caregivers, PSWs, employers, and educators, HSCPOA:
- Has established the minimum requirements for registration, including education (knowledge, skills judgement) experience, and competency for PSWs and other supportive care providers.
- Has created regulations, by-laws, policies and guidance as a foundation for oversight of the ethical and code of conduct of registered PSWs when providing supportive care services to the public,
- Will maintain a public register so the public/recipients of supportive care services can access information about registered PSWs and ensure they hire qualified workers.
- Provides a standardised complaints system if recipients have concerns about the supportive care services they have received from a registered PSW
- Provides a dispute resolution mechanism to protect the public from potential misconduct from registrants.
