Appeals Committee

Pursuant to section 47(1) of the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority Act, 2021 (the “Act”), the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) is required to have an Appeals Committee.

 47 (1) The Board shall establish an Appeals Committee in accordance with the regulations to consider, in accordance with the prescribed procedures, appeals from orders of the Discipline Committee.

The Appeals Committee is being formed in preparation for more serious concerns arising from complaints that may be referred by HSCPOA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to its Discipline Committee, and the subsequent possibility of appeals of those decisions that may be received by its Appeals Committee. Each committee is required to have at least seven individuals appointed by HSCPOA’s Board of Directors.
